Kobe Medical Industry Development Project research group

Outline

To implement the Kobe MID Project as quickly as possible, the study group comprised of domestic and international medical industry companies established in Augst 1999(as of December, 2000 there are approx. 350 participating companies).

Four working groups(WG) practically work on each subject.
Moreover, additional working groups will be set up as the need arises.

Image-based Medicine center WG

In charge of making concrete plans regarding the research and development of ME (medical and engineering) related equipment; this group is also in charge of feasibility evaluation of business plans in regard to the Medical Imaging Center.

Clinical Research Coordination Center WG

Main themes:

1. Evaluation of clinical trial systems in collaboration with regional entities including local medical institutions
2. Education and training of clinical research coordinators, recruiting of clinical research associates and reviewing the possibility of establishing a biological statistics department.
3. Feasibility evaluation of the Clinical Research Support Center Business Plan.

Infrastructure and Urban Development WG

The working group is comprised of members from various private businesses, related organizations and the City Hall. The group has been set up in order to evaluate methods for urban development and for the induction of businesses so that an accumulation of medical related industries on the second stage development on Port Island can be made possible.

Regenerative Medicine and Research WG

This working group investigates the clinical application of reproductory medical treatment and other technologies in collaboration with The Center for Developmental Biology at the Kobe Institute of Biomedical Research and Innovation.
